Jay E. Demaray

Jay Demaray 61, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral Services will be held at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2015, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services on Friday at the church.  

Jay Edward, son of Leighton and Catherine (Nordman) Demaray, was born November 25, 1953, in Charles City, Iowa. He received his education in the Rockford Schools, graduating from Rockford High School in 1972. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for six years as a mechanic. On July 14, 2007, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Pries, at Elizabeth, Illinois. Jay worked in school bus sales in Waterloo. He enjoyed grilling, cooking, house remodeling with his wife, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn of Evansdale, he is survived by two children, Aaron (Elizabeth) Sievers of Delano, Minnesota, and Kristin (Cameron Richards) Sievers of St. Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Mya, Tanner, and Lydia; his two dogs, Molly and Shelby; his father, Leighton and step-mother Arlene Demaray of Minnesota; six siblings, Connie (Gene) Schuster of Rockford, Iowa, Steven (Cheri) Demaray of Waucoma, Pam (Tom) Dight of Osage, Debbie (Benny) Hufft of Sapula, Oklahoma, Kim (Jerry) McDowell of Mason City, Mike (Julie) Demaray of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Millard and Ernestine Pries.

I never met him except through Facebook- it looked like you were very happy with him- I'm glad you got to feel that kind of love but sad it he won't be physically here to spend the rest of your life enjoying the love you have- remember those special moments to help you get through the rough times- I'm sure he will stay close to you as you continue on- you are loved much Marilyn & in my prayers
